Deepanshu Joshi sees the genesis of his art practice in "Synchronicity"—i.e. meaningful encounters—found in the course of everyday life. The profound, subjective development of his art practice is based on acute practical observation of nature. Forced by the elusive character of nature to study its inner being, he began to dissect and analyze the microcosm and from that the central point to penetrate deeper into the mysterious universe. The Science of the invisible is as exact and empirical as the western Science of the natural. The impetus towards the inner sprang from his study of the outer. This distance between the microcosm and the macrocosm has been a space for his reflection and intervention.
Deepanshu's art practice is primarily rooted in painting but search for new expressions to articulate concerns, has lead to the identification of Installations, photography, video, sound, and books. These act as strategies to create experiential, interstitial spaces and stimulating experiences which come about while working on something. The specificity of one medium is irrelevant to his way of functioning.
Originally from Uttarakhand, Deepanshu Joshi lives and works in New Delhi.
