Author: Dhruvika Bisht
Dhruvika’s artistic fervour and scientific aptitude define her practice as an Art Conservator-Restorer. She studied Chemistry (B.Sc, University of Delhi) and then Art Conservation (M.A. , Indian Institute of Heritage, earlier N.M.I). She has an inherent curiosity for colours, and their abundant, saturated lives. Something that often nudges in her understanding of art practices, materials and techniques. Knowing enough to strike the right balance between art and art conservation, and curious still to be lured equally to either side. Dhruvika has worked on artworks and historic objects in metal, wood, paper, textile , as well as on murals and canvas. Be it on site, in-field or at a laboratory, Dhruvika truly believes in a seamless cycle of preservation , conservation, interpretation , of tangible objects and the intangible facets of cultural heritage through collective memory, and consciousness, across generations. She has a keen interest to work with historic interiors , giving medium to her stubborn curiosity for heterogeneous structures. Further, she continues to find newer art materials to tackle, and composite objects to conserve.
