Praveen K. Chaudhry is a documentary photographer based in New York City. His interest revolves around everyday human interactions in conflict zones, mostly the nomads, and weavers. He just finished a body of work based in Kashmir, Ladakh, and Tibet, and is currently working on nomads in Antalya, Turkey. His photographs have been exhibited in Café Galería Amparo, Puebla City, Mexico (2017), Teatro Cine Morelos (Morelos Cinema), Cuernavaca, Mexico (2016), Museo Casa del Risco, Mexico City, Mexico( 2016), Tecnológico de Monterrey, Querétaro, Mexico (2016), Marvin Feldman Center FIT/SUNY, New York City (2016), Museo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, Mexico (2015), Galerie Romain Rolland - Alliance Française de Delhi, India (2011). He is a recipient of the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor's Award for Scholarship and Creative Activities. Before joining State University of New York / FIT, he taught at Swarthmore College, Lafayette College, Ohio University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Delhi. He was also Visiting Faculty at Observer Research Foundation as well as Nelson Mandela Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi. He has multiple publications. His current collaborated visual ethnography project titled, “Chasing a Dying River: Ghat 24 Yamuna, Delhi, India,” focusing on Ghat 24, one of the 32 contiguous historic stairways on the Yamuna River in Delhi provides a glimpse of daily life and human contradictions of deep spirituality and environmental indifference along the severely polluted river. Praveen holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, he is a Professor of Political Science at State University of New York / FIT.
Souzeina Mushtaq:
Souzeina Mushtaq is an educator and a photographer based in New York City. She received her doctorate in Media and Gender studies from Ohio University. She also worked as a journalist in multiple capacities as a reporter, editor, and television host in Kashmir and New Delhi. Her research focuses on queer Muslim women and their intersecting identities. Moreover, she has been collaborating on a visual ethnography project on “Nomads and Weavers of the Himalayas” in Kashmir and Tibet, and “Yörüks of the Taurus Mountains” in Turkey for over a decade. The work has been exhibited in major galleries in New York City, Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Queretaro, Puebla City, and New Delhi.
