Tanaya Rao Raj is a visual artist based in New Delhi. She has an art and design studio, where she regularly creates her work along with running her upcycled apparel label: Ekatran. She is passionate about upcycling and uses found and wasted materials as part of her art practice. Her works are physical manifestations of an instinctive urge and need to use (or repurpose) all kinds of discards: found materials/ objects. This is the core driving force of her practice. She often combines painting with these discards to create her visuals. In her recent body of work, she combines Katran (or cloth waste) along with paint to create various landscapes and/ or abstract forms inspired by nature. She believes that every form of discard is a reflection of her own self, trying to create a meaning and identity of its own, in every artwork.
