Born in 1982, Mrugen Rathod lives and works in Vadodara, India. His artistic practice oscillates between social, political, cultural and ecological concerns, addressing questions of their implications. Often manifested in more than one medium including drawings, sculptures, installations, video, as well as performances, his practice evolved in two branches; one that is minimal - his frottage based art and the other, involved projects based on lengthy research. Mrugen draws inspiration from the sundry of places he visits and the people he meets. His experiences and investigations merge to yield works where the subject, material and intent coalesce to make an impact. He is currently a visiting Faculty at Anant University, Ahmedabad.
