Born in 1981 in Malappattam, Kerala, Shajith R B completed his early education in his native village before pursuing mural painting at Kerala Sanskrit University and earning a painting degree from the Fine Arts College in Thiruvananthapuram. Influenced by Indian miniatures, Paul Gauguin, and David Hockney during his student years, he contributed to series like 'School Time' and 'Rain' in watercolor. He has exhibited in notable shows like the Harmony Show in Mumbai and the Art Chennai Exhibition in 2012 and has been awarded the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi State Award in 2015, 2018 and 2021. His later works explore themes of village life, nature, myths, solitude and fear. The recurring motif of a distressed girl symbolizes victimhood. His recent series, 'After Rain' features over thirty paintings, capturing the emptiness post downpour and the hope in germinating seeds. Through human and animal figurines in natural settings, he emphasizes nature's dominance.
