About Paramjit Singh
Born in 1935, Paramjit Singh was a founder member of ‘unknown’, a group of artists and sculptors in Delhi that was active in1960s. Paramjit Singh is an eminent teacher and he taught Fine arts for three decades. He was head of the department at Jamia Milia University, Delhi. Singh’s brushstrokes impart panoramic visions of supernatural landscapes to the viewer. Initial landscapes are evocatively silent studies of nature. His paintings are a painter's reaction to the mysteries of nature.
Paramjit Singh's canvases offer viewers a glimpse beyond the urban world, taking them beyond the noise and chaos of the environment, into spaces with abundant nature. Singh's artworks are 'aesthetic haven' for the viewers. Though he has worked with several mediums, he prefers oil to depict several forms of natureon canvas. Thick pigment, brisk strokes, and vibrant colours bring out the feeling of sensuousness and tactility.
