Rashmimala’s artistic practice merges botanical research with the tradition of botanical illustration. Her work explores the stories of survival, migration, and existence of ground and urban ruderal plants, delving into their anecdotal histories. In an investigative manner, she documents the plants, questioning their relationships to the world around them. Her solo exhibitions include of the ground at The Guild Art Gallery, Alibaug (2022), Where Should The Plants Sleep After the Last Breath of Air?, an online project by The Guild (2021), and transplant at Nazar Art Gallery, Vadodara (2018). Rashmimala’s recent group exhibitions include Travelling Plants at Goethe Zentrum, Hyderabad, Alliance Française of Madras, and Indian Museum Kolkata (2024), Sutr Santati: Then. Now. Next at NGMA, Mumbai (2024), Womanifesto: Flowing Connections at Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre (2023), Delhi Contemporary Art Week at Bikaner House, New Delhi (2023 and 2022), Past-Present-Continuous at Bikaner House (2022), and the India Art Fair (2022) and Abu Dhabi Art (2021) both presented by The Guild.
