His local interventions related to environmental conservation and the ordeal he underwent subsequent to it, deeply influenced his thought process and nature started appearing in different forms in his works. Unnikrishnan documents events and images from his rapidly changing surroundings. And taken together, they offer not only a personal archive but a critical description of possible encounters among tradition, belief systems and modernity. These interventions can be as subtle as his choice of materials like weaved baskets and terracotta bricks. Unnikrishnan C lives and works in Pezhumpara, Kerala.
