Vivek V C (b. 1996, Kannur, Kerala) is a visual artist working primarily with watercolour and charcoal. He earned his BFA (2019) and MFA (2023) in painting from the College of Fine Arts, Kerala, Trivandrum. His practice explores themes of uncertainty, ambiguity, and the interplay between memory, imagination, and reality. Rooted in personal and collective narratives, his works often reflect the fragile boundaries between human existence and the natural world.
His series “Grandma’s Nightmare” draws from childhood ghost stories, capturing the emotional landscapes of fear and the uncanny, while his ongoing series, “You Can’t See Them, You Can’t Feel Them,” delves into the disorienting temporality of Alzheimer’s, inspired by his grandmother’s experiences. Through fragmented narratives, his work challenges linear logic, creating spaces of tension between past and present, reality and fiction.
Vivek was part of the Space Studio Monsoon Residency (2024) and currently practices in Baroda.
