Archisman Roy has completed Graduation and Masters in Sculpture from Rabindra Bharati University. He is keen to explore the relationship between mundane objects from our surroundings and human lives. He arranges and re-arranges the objects in a way to offer a different sensory experience. In the process, he creates surrealistic forms out of these objects which triggers emotional connections that the viewer has, with the settings. These sculptures are posed as objects of ethnographic interest. It is an attempt to build an artistic language with layering of cultural anthropology. The contemplative form and surface of the sculptures are deliberate acts of simultaneously reflecting on organic sensuality and objecthood. Roy uses mediums such as wood, paper-mache, metal and fiber glass in his works. He lives and works at Kolkata.
